WESTERN MICHIGAN BRONCOS

We revitalized Lawson Ice Arena with updated championship-driven branding that celebrates Western Michigan Hockey’s first NCAA national title. The redesigned environment transforms existing surfaces into a proud expression of the program’s identity — reinforcing legacy the moment you step inside.

Lawson’s existing visuals were outdated and no longer reflected the program’s elevated status. Following the Broncos’ 6–2 win over Boston University to claim their first national championship, the arena needed an upgrade that matched the magnitude of the achievement and strengthened the fan and athlete experience.

Our goal was to honor the championship while elevating the arena’s overall atmosphere. We refreshed key touchpoints with championship graphics, updated signage, and intentional storytelling moments — maximizing visual impact by building on Lawson’s existing architecture and layout.

“Lawson Arena is the soul of Western Michigan Hockey — a world-class hidden gem with one of the most electric atmospheres in college hockey. On Friday and Saturday nights, it’s as special as it gets; but during the week, recruits still saw a 51-year-old building. Now, the arena finally reflects the pride, identity, and championship standard of the program.”

The arena now carries the weight of a national title. Athletes skate into a space that reflects their accomplishment. Fans feel the pride of a historic season. And the environment reinforces a lasting truth: Western Michigan Hockey is a championship program — and Lawson Arena now looks the part.
