Revitalizing one of the largest locker rooms in NCAA Men’s Basketball, we transformed Creighton’s off-campus facility inside the city’s arena into a modern, cohesive extension of the Bluejays brand. The space now connects athletes, coaches, and donors through thoughtful design — merging functionality, identity, and energy into an environment worthy of a top-tier program.

Once a retrofitted hockey locker room, the space lacked flow, identity, and the sophistication expected of a nationally recognized basketball program. Located off-campus, it felt disconnected from the Creighton brand. Athletics leadership saw an opportunity to create an environment that would rival any locker room in the country — a space that reflected excellence and investment while staying within a defined budget and tight timeline.
Working inside an active city arena added complexity, with coordination between event schedules, construction crews, and safety protocols requiring careful choreography at every step.
The goal was to create a home that felt unmistakably Creighton — connected visually and emotionally to their on-campus facilities, yet distinct in its presence.
More than an upgrade, this was a statement of pride, recruiting strength, and commitment to the athlete experience. Within one of the largest locker room footprints in college basketball, flow and function were paramount. Every inch needed to serve a purpose, from athlete recovery to nutrition, from coaching strategy to donor engagement.
Despite a lean budget, the vision was ambitious: a space that felt elite, energized, and timeless — proof that thoughtful design can elevate performance and pride without excess.
We partnered with a trusted general contractor to reimagine the suite’s structure — rethinking circulation, removing unnecessary barriers, and creating zones for function and connection.
Design decisions were shaped by a balance of creative ambition and practical constraints. Repurposing materials became an art form: old court flooring found new life, vintage stadium seating added authenticity, and durable corridor finishes ensured longevity in a high-traffic arena environment.
Working around live events in the arena required flexibility and coordination — a challenge that tested both patience and precision but resulted in a flawless delivery on time and within budget.
Every zone was designed to serve a distinct purpose while maintaining a unified aesthetic.
Lighting and mood control allow the space to transition seamlessly from game-day energy to off-day recovery.
Reclaimed materials tie the design back to Creighton’s heritage, giving old elements new meaning.
Layered branding moments — from apparel highlights to NBA alumni displays — celebrate the program’s ongoing legacy.
Spatial flow connects the locker room, lounge, nutrition station, training area, and theater room into one cohesive experience.
Premium lounge spaces were crafted to welcome alumni and donors pre-game, while maintaining the focus on athlete performance and preparation.
The result: a refined, high-performing environment that communicates focus, pride, and belonging at every turn.
Delivered on time and on budget, the locker room suite exceeded expectations. The transformation elevated the athlete experience, energized recruiting, and redefined what an off-campus facility can be.
This project set a new precedent for Creighton Athletics — proof that thoughtful design can make even a repurposed space feel elite, strategic, and unmistakably Bluejays.
